Sexual abuse and assault can happen to anyone. Sexual abuse and assault can have psychological, emotional, and physical effects on a survivor. Repercussions may include shock, pain, fear, humiliation, self-blame, depression and a diminished sense of self-worth. Psychological damage can be especially serious when the perpetrator is in a position of power and the victim is a minor, employee, nursing home resident, developmentally disabled person, student, parishioner, patient or client. 

 

Those who perpetrate sexual abuse must be held accountable. There are legal options available to do just that.
